چکیده
This report studies an abstract approach to modeling the motion of large eddies in a turbulent flow. If the Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) are averaged with a local, spatial convolution type filter, φ = gδ ∗ φ, the resulting system is not closed due to the filtered nonlinear term uu. An approximate deconvolution operator D is a bounded linear operator which is an approximate filter inverse D(u) = approximation of u. Using this general deconvolution operator yields the closure approximation to the filtered nonlinear term in the NSE

Chebychev optimized approximate deconvolution models of turbulence
If the Navier-Stokes equations are averaged with a local, spacial convolution type filter, φ = gδ∗φ, the resulting system is not closed due to the filtered nonlinear term uu. An approximate deconvolution operator D is a bounded linear operator which satisfies u = D(u) + O(δ), where δ is the filter width and α ≥ 2. Using a deconvolution operator as an approximate filter inverse, yields the closu...
متن کاملImproving Accuracy in α-Models of Turbulence through Approximate Deconvolution
In this report, we present several results in the theory of α-models of turbulence with improved accuracy that have been developed in recent years. The α-models considered herein are the Leray-α model, the zeroth Approximate Deconvolution Model (ADM) turbulence model, the modified Leray-α and the Navier–Stokes-α model. For all of the models from above, the accuracy is limited to α2 in smooth fl...

We consider a family of high accuracy, approximate deconvolution models of turbulence. For body force driven turbulence, we prove directly from the models equations of motion the following bounds on the models time averaged energy dissipation rate, < "ADM >, and helicity dissipation rate, < ADM (w) >; < "ADM > 2 U3 L +Re 1 U3 L (1 + ( L )) , and j < ADM (w) > j U3 L2 + p 2Re 1 2 (1 + 2 L2 ) 1 ...
متن کاملConvergence Analysis of a Fully Discrete Family of Iterated Deconvolution Methods for Turbulence Modeling with Time Relaxation
We present a general theory for regularization models of the Navier-Stokes equations based on the Leray deconvolution model with a general deconvolution operator designed to fit a few important key properties. We provide examples of this type of operator, such as the modified TikhonovLavrentiev and modified Iterated Tikhonov-Lavrentiev operators, and study their mathematical properties. An exis...
متن کاملOn Taylor/Eddy solutions of approximate deconvolution models of turbulence
This article shows that, so called, general Green-Taylor solutions, also called Taylor solutions or eddy solutions of the 2d Navier Stokes equations are also exact solutions to approximate deconvolution models of turbulence. Thus these special structures in flows exist as exact features in the models studied and their persistence / transient behavior is exactly determined by their stability not...
